Kirch
Does anyone know of any online phonics games that teach kids to sound out cvc words strictly left to right vs. reading an ending sound, then adding the first letter to read the whole word (i.e. "c-a-t" to "ca-t" to "cat" instead of "at" to "c-at" to "cat")? We use the first format, but all the online games I've found (like starfall) do it the other way around.
Sue G in PA
ETC online does it that way...much like the books. But, it does cost money to join. I think homeschoolbuyers coop still has a group buy for it.
Guest Louise
The family learning site has a collection of free online phonics games. You might also like the games on the Letters and Sounds website - this follows the new UK phonics curriculum which is synthetic phonics, sounding out letters from left to right c-a-t cat, rather than the onset-rime c-at, s-at m-at method.
