Tracy in Ky
What does it mean to "finish the lower edge" of something? I am making a blouse for dd's doll, and this instruction is for one of the neck band sections. The glossary says: Finish = Stitch 1/4" from raw edge. Does this mean just stitch around it, or am I supposed to turn it up and then stitch? I'm so confused!!!!
OnTheBrink
When I finish an edge, I do a zigzag stitch around it to keep it from unraveling. But I only finish edges on seams that no one will see, so they don't have to be hemmed, like the seams of where the sleeve meets the shoulder, etc.
CLHCO
If it's a facing piece that won't show, just turn under 1/4" and stitch or zig-zag. Stitch close to the raw edge. If I'm understanding you correctly, it's just to keep it from fraying.
