momtolgd
We are buying board games for Christmas...and I'm having trouble finding a game for our ds who will turn 3 in November. What are your favorites for 3 year olds?

sbgrace
I've got two very different kids and one with a very short attention span. They both loved: Orchard by Haba (I give this game as a gift a lot, it's really terrific) Snail Pace Race by Ravensburger Cariboo One kid loved Hiss (Gamewright) Both enjoyed Zingo (Thinkfun). But I don't think it was at three with short attention span child. It's like bingo essentially. Edited October 24, 2009 by sbgrace
Tangerine
Harvest Time. It's a cooperative board game. Simple play for 3 year olds, but an extended game version as they get older.
Imprimis
My kids, at three, enjoyed playing Hi-Ho Cherry-O (counting game), and Candyland (colors).
Kareni
... Snail Pace Race by Ravensburger Snail's Pace Race game was a HUGE winner in our family. It's such a great game as it is the snails that win or lose NOT the child. We also liked the boxed set of 4 First Games from Ravensburger. JenneinCA
Hullabaloo by the people who did Cariboo. It isn't exactly a board game but my kids liked it when they were little.

Jen500
Froggy Boogie. It's a nice, quality-made game that didn't drive me nuts.
Sasharowan
Cooties and matching games are fun for ds3, especially since he can play them on his own during school. He also liked Hiss when played elsewhere.
OK Family
My 3 yr old son loves dominoes, we found "Cars" dominoes at family dollar. But I also like regular dominoes to help with counting. Another game he likes is called Zingo.

mama2cntrykids
This is quite funny (to me anyway), but my grandpa bought dd a Super Hero's 3-D matching game. I thought, "Yeah, right, she'll NEVER want to play that!". Lo and behold one day she asked to play and it's been her fave ever since. Edited October 24, 2009 by mama2cntrykids can't spell ever right, lol!
Jennifer in MI
Hi Ho Cherry Oh Uno (with a little help, but she's really got it!) There are a couple German games Ravensburger, I think. She's more into puzzles right now.

Kfamily
Dd loved Dress-A-Bear when she was that age. I ordered it from a catolog but I can't remember the name of it right now. Here it is: http://www.superduperinc.com/products/view.aspx?pid=SM0711 but they apparently don't sell it anymore. Maybe you could find it somewhere else... http://www.kaplanco.com/store/trans/productDetailForm.asp?PID=85810....they have it here. Tutor
Not a board game, but our kids have all enjoyed Swipe at that age. It is a dice game where the picture on the dice determines whether a player takes a chip from the center, a chip from another player, a die from the center, or a die from another player. The player with the most chips at the end wins. Very simple but really helps with attention, counting, and following directions. Amazon has it listed through one of their sellers right now for $0.03 + shipping. ETA: Toot and Otto has also been popular here. Guest Maple
I was looking for game ideas for this coming Christmas, this thread helped out! Harvest Time. It's a cooperative board game. Simple play for 3 year olds, but an extended game version as they get older. We liked Harvest Time too, and Max the Cat, made by the same company. http://www.familypastimes.com/3%20to%207%20Years/max.html
