Can you use a pork butt bone to flavor soup in place of a ham bone?

Hmmmm....I'm not sure I would, but that's just me. It wouldn't have the same smoky flavor. It would give the soup body and silkiness you would get from a ham bone, just a different flavor. If I did use a pork butt bone, I'd probably roast the bone first by itself, then add a teeny tiny amount of liquid smoke.
