ok, SOMEONE has to know if hydrogen peroxide is ok to use on my dd's ears. We ran out of the stuff that the ear piercing place sent home with her three months age, and her ears still need attention (had a tiny bit of oozing three days ago).. I also still need to clean/sterilze her vast hoard of newly purchased earrings from Claires.

Don't make me hurt you, Doran! :banghead:

(You are laughing right? Right??? :001_unsure: )

I wish I had an answer for you. I actually did read your peroxide post and thought, "Gee, I hope someone replies, because I haven't the slightest idea." Have you tried Googling this same topic (cleaning newly pierced ears)? Sorry I'm not more help. But, consider this a bump, if nothing else.

Yes, peroxide is fine. I used it on my ears and dd used it on hers. :-)

they recommend you not use peroxide or alcohol because it dries the skin and can cause cracking and irritation. a teeny bit of antibiotic ointment would be better. or you can go back to the place and ask for another bottle. :001_smile:

I've used peroxide on my ears in the past :bigear:. Now I use Neosporin on my posts if they are giving me trouble, and I've used rubbing alcohol to clean my earrings.

I grew up using peroxide and alcohol on my ears, without a problem. Though, as was said, it's not recommended now. I think I still would though if I was out of the other stuff.

But, yeah, I think I'd go with JudoMom's idea and clean the earrings with alcohol. I'd wipe the ears with peroxide, personally, and apply the Neosporin if needed. :)

Or I could just give ya some of our ear care antiseptic..we have the huge bottle, still going strong after 2 months.

Use sea salt and water instead. If they look infected (oozing) then use a small measuring cup, mix about a teaspoon of sea salt into a pint of water, and soak her ears in the mixture for 5 minutes 1-2 times a day. The salt will slowly dry the wound and will help to heal it at the same time.

Sea Salt is available in the grocery store. It will either be with the regular salt or with the natural food section. Make sure to use sea salt as it has minerals and is less processed than "table salt".

Until her ears stop oozing, have her take showers and avoid the pool and baths.

Boy, with ears like that, you must use the whole tube.
