Melissa in Australia
my 15 ds is a slow but thougher reader. he is going through the Ancient Great books list/ WTM he has read so far an Gilgamesh, abridged Iliad and odyssey, Genesis, and Herodotus. he has been reading Herodotus for nearly 4 months. ( our school year here starts at the end of January. what I am worried about is that he isn't going to get through the 8 books recommended as a minimum. He reads for at least 1 1/2 -2 hours a day. what would you guys recommend? just keep on reading and see how many we get through?
Dirtroad
Can some of the be read alouds? You read one or 2 of the harder ones while he keeps working on the others? Do you have him read aloud to you to help him practice on speed & concentration?
Melissa in Australia
he has great concentration, and a very thorougher reader. Just the books he is reading at the moment are very ' heavy' and slow going. I don't make him read aloud. I could try to read Josephus aloud I suppose. Thanks for the idea.
