Renthead Mommy
It's the burning question of the moment. Our stuff still hasn't arrived from Oki, so I still don't have a cookbook to look it up. Apparently the 7yo is dying of thirst! But first must know the answer to the question.
chaik76
The addition of grenadine or other red juice (often raspberry). Hope that helps!:D ETA: Sometimes food coloring as well. There actually ARE pink lemons, and these were used traditionally, but are hardly ever used now. Here's a link to a picture of pink lemons: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3493/3292733617_6079845e4f.jpg

dirty ethel rackham
I usually substitute whatever red juice I have on hand for some of the sugar (my kids love the Black Raspberry Crush from TJ's), partially to reduce the amount of sugar and partially to add a different flavor.) But I do like the strawberry puree version as well.
BikeBookBread
I usually use a little bit of pure cranberry -- it is a miniscule amount. The pink is supposedly for color only (I researched it -- hee hee hee! -- about 4 months ago when DH brought home 20 pounds of lemons from a co-worker's tree that I juiced and froze for lemonade etc.)
