Help me appreciate my boys. I need inspiration and encouragement.

Recommended Posts

I have two boys and they are all over the place. However in public, they really are great. Well, most of the time. Anyway, I just think about how I really don't want them in public school because they would both need to be medicated. That keeps me motivated.

I hope that this helps.

I guess that I know that I love them in those quiet morning times. When even the least physical will let me cuddle with him.

Hang in there.

Lately, I feel like all I notice from them (ages 7, 5 and 3) are the loud noises and the big messes they make. Help me appreciate them. Any articles, Bible verses, "they will turn out okay" stories, etc... would be very helpful!

Cheyenne, mom to three greeks and three barbarians!

Yes, little boys are loud. And they make big messes. And I've noticed mine start to smell funny now and then.

When I find myself being irritated with the lot of them, I like to take them somewhere to play (park, Chick-fil-a, etc). I like to let them burn off energy and watch them interact and remember what it is that I love about each of them. I try to set aside my agenda for a clean, quiet home and just enjoy them. They are funny, they are sweet, and they have big ideas. I try to remember that one day I will miss them running through the house and tackling each other. I will miss their loud play, the shooting sounds, and their laughter.

OF course, some days these reminders to myself don't work. So I make them go to bed and read and I enjoy some peace and chocolate :D.

What I do is take a good look at them and try to look into their precious eyes and give a great big hug and say "I love you just the way you are and appreciate that you ........." They will feel your love even if they pull away and help you apprciate that they are boys. Remember they are only little for such a short amount of time sometimes it seems it will be forever when they are loud and busy but this to shall pass and you will long for those three little loud boys in your home once again. Hang in there mom, you are doing a great job.

Philippians 4:13.

I agree with Judomom, somedays you need to just step back and let them be themselves without an agenda. See the world the way they do. You also need to get away from them sometimes so you can "miss" their messy, loud ways.

I find a mom's day or night out is the best thing when the going gets rough. Maybe some shopping? or just being with other moms or a friend.

Just know, we are out here and know how you feel. Hugs to you. You are raising the leaders of tomorrow!

Just try to picture their wedding day when they will go on to another life with another woman.. (and give her their mess and noise:p)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. – Galatians 6:9

I would also read Ephesians or Psalms to help encourage me.

I'm the same way. 4 boys and another on the way and I've been very critical of all of them (even dh!) recently. While my girls have their moments (dd11 and dd2), it just seems like the boys are ALWAYS messing up something, breaking something, yelling, fighting, missing the toilet, etc. It's horrible to feel that way. I find myself praying this baby were a girl. But, that's not fair. I know how you feel. I've been just trying to spend time w/ my boys doing what they love (which right now is basketball, football, building). I focus on the praiseworthy stuff. Schoolwork done in a timely manner and neat, building projects they make (some are really phenomenal), good attitudes, helpful attitudes, how great they all are w/ dd2 (all are older than her), etc. It really helps me. Also, I focus on the fact that God doesn't make mistakes. He created EACH one of my boys for a purpose and I'm excited to see what that purpose is and how it will play out. HTH
