JFSinIL
Ds and I drove to the LAST college he will deign to visit ("enough already, Mom!") and he ended up LOVING the place. So now, after the fact, I am looking for any input from folks who either went there or had a kid go there. Looks like DS will be applying to (in order of his favs): University of the South - Sewanee Illinois Wesleyan Vanderbilt Augustana Gettysburg (didn't visit - too far) Il. State - Carbondale maybe Harvard as a long shot just to say he tried. I hope six is enough.
Susan in IL
Augustana and IWU compete for the same kids. If your ds gets accepted at both and can't decide, let both know about the other and the financial aid they have offered. I have heard they try to match the other. Annie G
We visited Augustana last week! Dd really loved it but she wants to major in German and the head of the department wasn't all that encouraging. Besides being totally clueless about homeschooling, the department is dwindling. They have some 25 kids majoring in German, 13 of those graduating next May and 11 more the following May. Dd was the only kid he's seen this summer who is considering a German major. The only thing that bothered me about the campus was the path that led from the dorms to the academic buildings. Wooded, secluded, and VERY dark in the winter and at night. Augustana was beautiful and they really presented themselves well.
