ereks mom
ER wants stretch denim jeans that are not tight-fitting anywhere, and that are not tapered at the ankle. He says the "skinny jeans" for guys look like girls' jeans (and I have to agree with him). He wants jeans that are straight leg or boot cut, not tapered. He also wants them to have a "relaxed" fit in the seat & thigh, not the loose-fitting kind that rappers wear. (Around here, that's what gang members & gang member wanna-be's wear. ;)) To complicate matters, he is very slim. At 19yo, he is 5'10" plus & weighs about 115 lbs. He can generally wear JC Penney's Arizona jeans in boys' size 18, or 29 waist in some other brands. HELP!
dirty ethel rackham
We have had good luck with Lands End size 20 slims for my 5'10" 120lb son. These are the only ones that are long enough and slim enough that he does not look outright silly. They have an adjustable waist and have a loose, but not uber-baggy fit. gingersmom
A second vote for Lands End. If you have a Sears store you may be able to try them on in person. Or maybe try LL Bean.
readwithem
Third vote for Lands End! I'm amazed at how many options they have for stretch jeans (though honestly I haven't looked at boys' clothes ;))
ereks mom
Thanks to you all! I'll check out Lands End.
MamaT
We have been through the same thing with skinny, tall boys. We finally found good fitting jeans in the right size at www.sheplers.com. Their prices aren't bad either.
Emmy
What about just Levis? They don't tend to follow the trends so closely and are more traditional in their fit. Also Eddie Bauer jeans are traditional.
EKS
Maybe I just don't get it, but why would you want stretch jeans that aren't tight fitting? Isn't that the point?
ereks mom
Maybe I just don't get it, but why would you want stretch jeans that aren't tight fitting? Isn't that the point? ...being overly loose or overly tight. As slim as he is, they probably won't be tight on him anyway, but will fit just right in the seat & thigh. Mainly, though, he doesn't want them to be tapered at the calf & ankle like girls' jeans. Edited August 2, 2009 by ereks mom

Also Eddie Bauer jeans are traditional. They are too tight through the hip/thigh area, and there's something about the placement of the back pocket being too low for our guys to comfortably carry a wallet.
