Gwen in VA
Interesting thoughts on health insurance -- http://www.alternativehealthjournal.com/article/congratulations_on_your_college_graduation_now_get_health_insurance/3708 For some reason I am horrible at putting links in the text, and for the life of me I can't get them to "link"! But at least you can copy and paste this newly corrected link now. Sorry I'm so inept with this linkage business. Tokyomarie
The current options for young people are thoroughly inadequate. We're living it right now.
shiloh
"Good insurance" is very expensive. But if you need a costly Rx filled it can be worth the cost. Dang! Visiting the doctor or a specialist is very expensive. And I want to blame it on the all the layers of bureaucracy (and CYA) between your health, your money and your doctor. The article is correct in that many young adults don't consider that they will need insurance until something happens to them. If anyone knows of good insurance that a college grad could purchase privately please share.
Janice H
(HSA's) are pre-tax bank accounts that are set up when one purchases a high deductible insurance policy. These are great for healthy young people, especially. I am well into middle age and just set one up for myself and dc. Not affiliated with this broker, but did use them, here is an informative link. http://www.health--savings--accounts.com/faq.htm I have not noticed any errors in the info when I checked some things against IRS and U.S. Treasury online documents. NB: HSA's are probably at risk if the govt. becomes the single payor in the health care system.
