Catherine
Would it be trigonometry, or pre-calculus? Would a child who had completed the sequence through alg 2 in public school be ready for pre-calculus? Thanks!
Gwen in VA
After algebra 2 kids normally do precalculus, which is actually 1 semester of trigonometry and one semester of review/calculus prep. Usually books for the "after algebra 2 and before calculus" state are titled something like precalculus or precalculus and trigonometry or advanced mathematics. You probably want to check, especially if you are switching curriculums at this point, to make sure that the text is the 'right" one. I do switch curriculum between algebra 2 and precalculus -- but since I use the same sequence as the honors curriculum in an academically-rigorous local high school, I didn't worry about how they meshed. Anne/Ankara
Gwen, what is your preferred Precalculus text? We are finishing up the Saxon Algebra II and are leaning toward Saxon's Advanced Math, but still searching for a nice precalculs-and-then-calculus textbook series...
