Julie in Monterey
Our group is coming up empty these days. I'm sure it has something to do with us meeting tonight so late. Anyhoo, wondering if anyone wanted to share their favorite summer reads. Thanks! Julie in Monterey
whitestavern
We recently read The Help and it was really good. Right now we're reading You Belong to Me and so far it is good as well.
Mel in K-zoo
Parnassus on Wheels by Christopher Morley. It is an older book and a little harder to find, but it is really cute. Our whole book club really enjoyed it for summer reading. Silence by Endo. This is a darker book on persecution in Japan. The Brothers K by Duncan. It gets a little long at the end and has a lot of cursing, but is a very good book. Life of Pi by Martel These are all nice summer reading. Melinda in VT
Have you read the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society? It's a fun, light read, and you learn some information about the English Channel Islands during WWII as a bonus. Personally, I thought The Shack was a horribly written book (where was his editor??) but I do think it would spark interesting theological discussion.
