Mama Lynx
Parents do not have to go on Boy Scout campin trips. However, for the Cub Scouts, one parent must attend. It does not have to be the Dad, it can often be the Mom.
talexand
From your signature, it looks like you are talking about cub scouts? If so, most of the overnighters are summer scout camps when they are young. My 10 year old has more camping trips now that he is a webelo but they do not have a parent for every child. We do try to get a parent for each child when they are young but we wouldn't let that mean a child couldn't go. Its not required, just encouraged. You would be surprised how many dads there are out there who are dedicated to scouts and are there for all the boys. Other outings in our pack are very family friendly. It is assumed that siblings will come. These are not white water rafting trips but things like trips to model railroads, flag ceremony on veteran's day, fossil hunting, ice skating. Mama Lynx
For Tiger Cubs, it *is* required that they have a parent present. At least, that's how it's always been for our packs.
