aready
I will be hsing my 3rd grader for the first time, so we are starting on SOTW-1. It is too bad that she missed the other years. I don't really know what benefit it would be to start on SOTW-3 just to "catch her up" though. SO we are beginning at the beginning. In making my schedule I was wondering what others do as far as completing the books. I would like to do it in one school year if possible. And my dds like the crafts so we would do that part as well as the additional readings. How did you put it into one year? Is it roughly a chapter a week? Anyone know of resourses for SOTW-1? Book list? Or a how they did it in a year? I have also started using History Portfolio to go along with it. http://www.homeschooljourney.com/aContents2.html Does anyone else use those? Does it follow pretty well SOTW? So far I'm pleased with it.
Karen sn
She will be fine starting with 1 now. My dd is 12 (finishing 5th grade) and we started SOTW a few months ago. I reckon it will take us more than a year to get through it because we have a really good library with all kinds of books that go along with our history and I tend to get really into it. If we get through all of world history just one time and then cover American Government and The Constitution....I will be thrilled. We can later go back and just pick and choose the topics in world history that she would like to delve into a little deeper. I wonder who really goes through the cycle three times! I know they are out there - but I haven't met them personally! I feel like one good time is enough. Two if you really think it's necessary. But I want to cover the American Constitution and our government in depth as well.
