in a high school age student. My daughter has had difficulty with small motor skills. Is there a way she could work on improving this and if so, how?

How about handicrafts? Start off with something like tapestries or cross stitch where there is a clear place to put the needle, then when she's comfortable with that, try free form embroidery, where she has to make the judgements for herself? Have her enter the local show, perhaps, as motivation to keep at it.

If you have insurance, I would get an occupational therapy evaluation. Depending on the severity of the issue, they will either recommend therapy or give you a list of things your dd can do on her own.

The others have offered good suggestions. I'll add one more that might be controversial: Spend less time on the computer. Typing/keyboarding uses different muscles than activities that build the fine motor skills use.
