sagira
I follow Charlotte Mason's ideas and would like to read a book on how to teach. I'm learning alongside ds, but feel I have much to improve, especially in the area of science. What book would you recommend for me? I have read all the CM books but a few. It could be completely secular too ;) TIA
Tohru
A Thomas Jefferson Education, by Oliver Van DeMille is an excellent book about how to teach and mentor.
sagira
Thanks! I will put this on my list. Any other book that emphasizes science, or just a few others that I can add? :bigear:
Kareni
Here's one for science that has received a lot of praise on the boards in the past: Nebel's Elementary Education: Creating a Tapestry of Learning There is also another book by Bernard Nebel entitled Building Foundations of Scientific Understanding. Here's a link to a review. Regards, Kareni
Guest Alte Veste Academy
I follow Charlotte Mason's ideas and would like to read a book on how to teach. I'm learning alongside ds, but feel I have much to improve, especially in the area of science. What book would you recommend for me? I have read all the CM books but a few. It could be completely secular too ;) TIA I'm not completely sure what you're looking for so I don't know how helpful my recommendations will be. At least I'll give you a bump. :001_smile: Here are some of my favorite teacher books for different subjects. The ones with asterisks are my favorites. Art The Art of Teaching Art to Children* Drawing With Children How To Teach Art to Children Writing The Writer's Jungle* Science Nurturing Inquiry* Organizing Wonder* What Will Happen If... Young Children and the Scientific Method Math About Teaching Mathematics Math Power History, etc. Social Studies That Sticks* Connecting Children with Children I would be interested in any general resources or single topic books which other people treasure as well.
