Magic Wand
I phoned them yesterday morning and didn't get a call back all day or all day today. I really want to order, but have a few questions. Has anyone had any luck getting through recently? Also, how long has it been taking to receive all of your order? My kids loved WP the year we did it, but it seemed like we had a lot of backordered items and it took a fair bit to finally receive everything. I guess that's what I love about Timberdoodle and Sonlight....there so "johnny on the spot" fast.
mtnheart
Hi, I love WP! The materials are wonderful. They are a small family business and it does take some time to get back to you with emails and phone calls. Someone once posted on another forum that the Brooks (owners of WP) live on an island in VT and the power and phone can go out for periods of time. When you do get to talk to them, they are fabulous. They consider WP a ministry and truly want to know all about your children and your needs. I have heard they give very in depth advice during phone calls. There is a forum on the WP website too and someone may be able to answer your questions there. When you do order, WP is plagued with backorders because they are a smaller company. Your patience is rewarded with a program your children will probably love. My son is very active, hands on learner so I think WP is a perfect fit for us. We are just getting started, so I am happy we have such resources available to us. I placed my order for this year in April, hoping to miss the fall rush. Unfortunately, a lot of items weren't quite ready yet, so I have received 6 shipments (I believe) and was just told the final box should be here this week. I have received replies to my emails with-in 24 hours- except for one email that fell through the cracks some how. When I call I generally keep trying until I get to talk to a live voice. My husband has a small business too and customer service is often his weakness, so I try to be very patient. Best wishes with you school year, Martha

siloam
Keep calling and send an e-mail (though the have problems at times with their e-mail service. They changed one year to find out the one they changed to had a worst rep that the one they left...don't know if they changed again this year). Magic Wand
but I will keep trying to call. I was able to get some of my questions answered from the website and re-read the catalog. The only thing that worries me is there was no shipping charge listed with my order. We're from AK so shipping sometimes hits us hard. I like to know ahead of time what the cost will be, but they've been fair with me before. I'm sure when I talk to them they'll be fair again about shipping. Are any of you using an WP products? We're going to use American Culture for 5th-8th grade. I'll have 5th and 7th graders and....drum roll please...the best part is, it's all planned out! Thanks! Mandy in TN
Are any of you using an WP products? We used Sea&Sky and Animals and Their Worlds this past year. Beginning in August, we will be using Quest for the Middle Ages Jr/Sr, Human Body and Forensics Jr/Sr, and World Around Me. :001_smile: Mandy
SnowWhite
American Cultures looks SO incredible! I know their phone message service sometimes goes on the fritz without any warning or even them knowing it is messed up (you leave a message and they have no record of it). I always call until I get someone. My shipment was due to be shipped on April 10th. I got much of it on April 12th. The remainder, minus a few backorders, came a week later. Within a month, the backorders arrived. There was a tiny mix-up, which I called about and it was corrected RIGHT AWAY. So, while accuracy wasn't 100% and the backorders took a month to arrive, the overall experience was a positive one for me. We are doing Amer Story 2, Animals and Their Worlds (lite), LA3 and PreK-K Basic Phonics LA this year.
Magic Wand
just that it was so close to a holiday weekend when I called. At any rate, I will try again. American Cultures does look good, doesn't it? We're really excited about starting. My kids remember the year we did WP the most fondly; they really enjoyed the hands on activities and liked all the books. It sounds like you've got a fun year planned with WP too. The forensics science looks like a blast. W
1shortmomto4
I've never had a customer service problem - I've called and I've emailed them requesting that someone (always has been Karen) called me back. There is probably a delay in your order because on of the Cultures books went out of print so they were busy finding a substitute and changing that info within the guide - the last update I heard was that they should be shipping this program in July but that could have changed. I think the program looks awesome, too, and tried to get my dd to do it this coming year but after checking out some of the books from the library she thinks they look too boyish because of the all the war/military books. Go figure! That was our history but I did think about looking for some famous women to add into the program and now she is intrigued. We're still thinking through next year's plans.
