swellmomma
Okay actually my kids learn stuff all the time it just doesn't usually pop up in areas outside of our actual studies. We got a Magic tree house audio book from the library to listen to in the car, this story have Jack and Annie meeting Da Vinci. When my dd heard DaVinci's name she said "Hey I have heard that name before", my ds pipes up with "of course you did, He painted the Mona Lisa" Shocked me, I showed him once while looking through an art book a picture of the Mona Lisa and mentioned Davinci, but I certianly didn't think it sunk in. He proved me wrong tonight that is for sure. I love when they catch me off guard like that!
plain jane
I love hearing stories like that. They're so encouraging to me because I find that from every now and then I spend a large portion of my time stressing about gaps and holes in my dc's education. I think as homeschoolers we put a great deal of pressure on ourselves to teach our kids everything. It's nice to know that kids really are sponges and that they will in fact pick things up here and there along this journey. :hurray:
Dirtroad
I think DaVinci catches the ear of kids more than any other artist. His inventions and unconditional ideas inspire imagination, thought, and more.

Especially after this last year, when I felt like this past year was a major bust and have been feeling guilty about that. When he pipes up with little things like that it really helps me feel better about homeschooling them, even if it means that we have the odd bust year.
