Matryoshka Posted July 11, 2009 Share Posted July 11, 2009 If I saw the name Jaeger, I'd assume it was pronounced "Yayger", not "jagger". Yes, "Jaeger" (the same as in Jaegermeister) means "hunter" in German, and is indeed pronounced something akin to "Yay-ger". The thing is, with two vowels and only one consonant following, the "jagger" pronunciation doesn't even make sense with English phonetic rules.
