I Guess She Likes To Mess With Me?

Recommended Posts

Got my update letter. From the Worker's Comp Hag. First page states that according to my specialist I'm in CHRONIC stage CRPS. Chronic stage. NOT remission. Nowhere in her letter does she say, 'remission'. She does babble a bit about the invalid IME (I had used the term 'incomplete' before, cause I couldn't remember the word she used) but from what I've been told, its invalid and should be treated as just that, and pitched, so if she bases anything on it, automatic win on appeal if need be.

Anyways. Point is, CHRONIC CRPS. Not remission. Chronic stage CRPS is described as:

In the chronic phase of CRPS (for one year or more after onset), the neurological complaints increase in severity and are more prominently present. Incoordination, tremor, involuntary movements, muscle spasms, and posture abnormalities may occur in this phase. The postural abnormalities include dystonia (a fixed abnormal posture of the extremity such as hyperflexion of the wrist or fingers, or inversion and plantar flexion or extension of the foot) and myoclonus (involuntary jerk-like movements produced by muscle contraction). Sensory disturbances may include anesthesia dolorosa (severe pain present in the anesthetic area). These neurological deficits may lead to severe additional disability, untreatable pain, and a non-functional extremity

I've underlined what I've experienced thus far. So my specialist's dx is bang on what I'm experiencing. So I guess she's calling just to screw with me? No clue. Either that, or she's too stupid to know what 'chronic' means.

I am sorry if I am not understanding this right... Is this good news? From what I am reading it sounds like the ruling you wanted right?? If so...CONGRATS! Don't let that Hag get to you! Sometimes the bureaucracy is such a pain. Just keep at them and don't them them beat you.

If I am reading this wrong and this is really bad news...I am sorry things are going so bad for you.

ETA: I am in desperate need of sleep, so don't mind my confusion.

Its confusing is what it is! She's saying what sounds accurate. That I'm chronic CRPS. That *sounds* accurate. I haven't called my specialist to bug him, I can read his letter at my GP's office tomorrow when I go. So, yeah, on that its good.

What's upsetting me is why, when she mailed the letter BEFORE she called me on Friday, did she call and tell me that I'm supposedly in 'remission'? Just to jerk me around? For someone with CRPS/RSD, stress, anxiety = more pain. And she would have to know that. So I'm left wondering if she's just that twisted that her last day before she left on vacation, if she decided to twist me up as best she could for fun, knowing that it would cause me physical pain.

Yes, the letter itself is good. Just completely contrary to her call, which makes me think either she's completely stupid, or completely cruel and a liar. And since this isn't the first time she told me I'm in remission and got caught lying, I'm going with the latter.

Honestly, I can't think of another rationale. I just can't.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt in these situations, and just assume they're high. :D

Sounds like excellent news, though! (And, even better, the good news is the written version so she can't change her story again!)

If she were high, then she'd at least *sound* happy on the phone.:glare: Yes, that its the written version is excellent. Its the frustration that she puts me through this at all. I hear what ppl are saying, to be grateful that she's putting the good version in writing, and just saying the crap, but I pay for the crap with increased stress and therefore increased pain. I've had pain levels that had me in bed by mid afternoon all wknd, and golly gee, guess why? Because of the stress she causes me with her, "You're in remission!" crapola.

I just wish she'd cut the crap, and stick to the truth all the way 'round. Apparently, that's too much to ask from the Hag :glare:

Oh, no, I'd totally want to hit her with a rock. I'm happy for you that the written report is favorable, but that doesn't negate the frustration she puts you through.

 Hitting her with a rock would only work if I had 2 arms. I'll let you do it for me :D

So...you want to hit her with a BIG rock? ;)

I hate dealing with power-tripping bureaucrats. I hope things go through the way you need them to, and soon! Maybe someone else will approve it while she's on vacation?

Can your DH field some of these calls for you? I'd totally screen her calls and play phone tag. Have you gone to her supervisor? I'd do that while she's on vacation; talk to her supervisor, explain what the paper says, and ask why she's harassing you and saying you're in remission, when you aren't? It's not like it's up to her to diagnose you; the doctor did that.

If she didn't have such a bad reputation, I'd check to see if she had the right files for me.

Come to think of it, when I was in college there was another student with the same 1st, middle and last name as me. The only way we could differentiate was because of a one letter differece in the spelling of our 1st names. Had our files not been filed next to each other (instead split between different financial councillors) we may have had a hard time with our info being misfiled and confused.
