Angel in FL
I would love to hear from anyone who has used Simply Phonics. I looked at the site and it looks like something I may enjoy using with my daughter. Is it all oral lessons? How does it work? There isn't a great explanation on the site. Thanks! Caroline4kids
I have it and have used it, but to be honest I prefer the free phonics site I posted in another link. It's www.progressivephonics.com There is absolutely nothing wrong with Simply Phonics and it is a very complete program, but my kids liked the colorful little books mentioned above, plus now they have made it free (which is wasn't when I bought it, LOL). whitestavern
I used Simply Phonics with my dd and it worked very well. We both enjoyed it; it's a very gentle approach and the graphics are lovely. When I purchased it, it came with a corresponding handwriting program which was nice. You're right; it was lacking on instruction, but I just went through it all with dd, as I said, and she now reads at about an 8th grade level. (She's just finishing up 3rd, but has been advanced since she finished SP). I used Progressive Phonics w/ds because I thought he needed something a little more structured; he wasn't as natural a reader as my dd. Net net, both great programs, especially now that PP is FREE!
