Danestress
When he traveled from Haran into Canaan, how would he have traveled? Would he have been on foot? Would he have used donkeys to carry his stuff? I seem to recall that some people speculate he might have acquired camels in Egypt, but prior to that, what was long distance travel like? Naturally I am trying to plan a Sunday School lesson at the last minute:) Thanks!
Danestress
if anyone happens to know or at least have ideas How would Abram have started a fire? What would he have used for fuel? What would he have cooked on his journey? What would his tents have been made of? I'm taking all my camping gear and putting up a tent and talking about what you pack, for a long backcountry trip, and then talking about how Abrams journey would have been similar and different. Jean in Newcastle
According to this link, his tent would have been made out of goat hair. http://reviews.ebay.com/Bible-Tent-Dwellings_W0QQugidZ10000000002152386 And we know that he used an ass (donkey) to carry firewood for the sacrifice of Isaac - so they used them as pack animals. I'm sure he walked a lot - and perhaps rode at times.
