Classical Katharine
Any advice? This is not an impulse situation, but it is a sudden opportunity with a tight time frame. Anything from the legal/bureaucratic standpoint they should know about? Thanks!
HeatherLynn
Our adoption time frame was THREE weeks. I called an adoption attorney (not agency, they will rob you blind!) and he guided me through everything and got it all done rather quickly. It was fast and furious to get our homestudy done and all, but it all worked out. :D Congrats to your friends.
EKS
Some friends of ours (in California) adopted a child out of Washington state about 10 years ago. The only issue they had that was out of the ordinary was that the child was part native American, actually a fairly small part but still with tribal affiliation, and that made things take quite a bit longer.
