I've been planning a logic stage biology. Here are some freebies I used.

http://www.biologyco...com biology but all kinds of top quality animations and simulations.

http://www.oum.ox.ac...ezone/index.htm biology and earth science simulations

http://www.udel.edu/biology/ketcham/microscope/scope.html Highschool level stereo microscope lab. Compare plant and animal cells. Follow the checklist exactly.

http://www.spongelab.com/index.cfm Huge site of animations and simulations. Easy Microscope simulation. Build a Body is a great wrap up for human anatomy.

http://www.dallaszoo...ge/web-lessons/ web lessons and worksheets on life science.

This is the site from MathMammoth, but it has great free resources, including helpful videos.

http://www.homeschoolmath.net/

And this is the free section of the Bravewriter site. I hesitate to recommend it because it's very Buy Our Products!, but there's also highly useful information.

http://www.bravewriter.com/program#4

And National Geographic has lesson plans

http://education.nationalgeographic.com/education/activity/?ar_a=1

And a couple of free booklists for Canadian history (many of the books are available in Canadian libraries)

Can't remember if I posted these in this list before:

Phet interactive science simulations - have simulations applicable for elem all the up thru High School:

http://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/category/new

Well organized materials teaching science concepts at elem level:

http://chem4kids.com/

http://www.physics4kids.com/

http://www.geography4kids.com/

http://www.biology4kids.com/

http://www.cosmos4kids.com/

Just wanted to update this...the first of the "...4kids.com" series that I tried (and liked) was phys4kids.  I assumed the others would be good as well; however, after reading several explanations about how atoms want to be "happy" and a comment about how catalysts are like magic, I no longer view chem4kids with as much enthusiasm.  Still a decent starting point, but I routinely have to make some edits before having my son read the content.

I posted this in a separate thread, but realized it'd be good for here, also:

This free web site is pretty neat (http://anatomyarcade.com/); it has a number of games that help kids memorize anatomy info.

Examples: Whack-a-bone in the skeletal section has 3 challenge levels within each of 3 body sections (arm, leg, torso) and then puts it together in a whole body section.  The easiest level guides you through placing a bone in the correct spot, while the hardest has you use a hammer to "whack" the correct bone without any "hints".  You have to progress through the levels (can't just jump to level 3).

The nervous system has jigsaw puzzles for the brain, eye, and a neuron.  An extra twist is that the pieces aren't all right side up...you have to rotate them, making it a bit more of a challenge to solve.

Some of the body systems just have crossword puzzle or word search, but provide instructional videos your kids can watch before trying to tackle the crossword.

I just wanted to say that there's a social group called "Free Curriculum for the Price of Printing" here: http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/groups/119-free-curriculum-for-the-price-of-printing/

I didn't start it, but it's such a great idea.  Each post in the discussion section is a different subject/topic, and people can post free curricula on that thread.  This method makes it really easy to find what you're looking for.

If you have free curricula that you enjoy, consider joining that forum and posting your ideas!  It will be easier to find things in the future than on a big long thread like this one where everything is all mixed up.
