Robin M
Today is the start of Week 24 in the quest to read 52 books in 52 weeks and should have you starting book # 25. Which means we are almost halfway towards our goal of reading 52 books for the year. You all are doing a fantastic job. :) You may post your reviews, thoughts, reactions to the books you've read here or on the 52 Books in 52 Weeks Blog. ************************************************ I have no idea what I'm going to read next. Do You? There are some interesting weekly events to get involved with in the blogosphere Amy of Hope is the Word is hosts this weekly event on Thursdays and it is a place where you can share your favorite family read-alouds and read about others. Rebecca at Lost in Books is hosting a new weekly event that readers of global literature will love. Take Me Away Saturday is all about books that take place in different cultures and are about different cultures. Rebecca writes: Each week I will feature a different country or culture (ex. Cherokee, Jewish, etc. that do not have a specific country per se) and list some books that can transport you there. I am keeping a map of the countries we visit and a list of the specific cultures... ****************************************************** What are you all reading this week? Have a wonderful book week.
eaglei
The last three books I read are: #31 - Outliers: The Story of Success, by Malcolm Gladwell (Thanks, HIVE, for recommending this)! #32 - I Take Thee, Serenity, by Daisy Newman (a gentle story and an old favorite) #33 - Indian Summer of the Heart, by Daisy Newman (the sequel to #32 that I didn't even know existed until I stumbled upon it at the library)! Currently reading: Write it When I'm Gone: Remarkable Off-the-Record Conversations with Gerald R. Ford, by Thomas M. DeFrank. Not sure what will follow - I have a stack of books lined up . . . !!! jujsky
I started Garden Spells yesterday, and I'm really enjoying it :001_smile:
Rosie_0801
Garden Spells is cute :) I read an Australian farming community novel. It was pretty dull. I think the issues were too familiar. Dh has started reading Tamora Pierce's "Bloodhound" out to us. OMG! Tunstall got both legs broken during the bread riot. Exciting stuff! Nakia
I am trying to recover from The Lovely Bones. It made me so sad. I need a light fun read. I think I might start the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. Are those pretty light reads? If not, I am totally open to suggestions! Nakia, Didn't you ask about Charlaine Harris' vampire series last week? Those are very light/quick reads, and they're very entertaining. I haven't read any Elizabeth Peters books, so no comment on those.

I reserved the next one at the library, but I am second in line so I might not get it for a couple of weeks. I just need something to read in the meantime. prairiegirl
I just finished The Lightening Thief by Rick Riordan. I was pre-reading it for my kids. We will be reading it as a read aloud now. I really liked it. I am now reading The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne.
Rosie_0801
Oh yeah, I read "How to be French" written by an Australian, Francophile journalist. That was a fun read :) Rosie
