BakersDozen
I found a sample of the manual online but cannot find a sample of the worksheets. Does this program include daily review (ie: Saxon, Abeka)? Thanks!
urban mama
We are only about a third of the way through RS B but so far, there is no daily review in terms of worksheets. However, the concepts are reviewed daily in other ways: orally, through games, demonstration of concepts, etc. I don't know about the other levels though. Haiku
RS does not have daily review in the form of worksheets. That is, imo, one of its strengths. Kids have plenty of opportunities each lesson to demonstrate, review, and refresh their understanding of the concepts they have learned but it is not tied to their writing ability, and the practice is much more varied and applicable than filling out worksheet pages. Oak Knoll Mom
I found a sample of the manual online but cannot find a sample of the worksheets. Does this program include daily review (ie: Saxon, Abeka)? Thanks! Yes, daily review worksheets start in Level C. It's all sort of lucy-goosey, though. You are told how to do their worksheet review program at the beginning of the book and you are in charge of making sure it gets done. They don't assign certain worksheets to be done on certain days. Mommy22alyns
RS A, hardly any worksheets at all. RS B is still minimal on worksheets. There are no daily review sheets, but there are some simple practice (drill) sheets for beginner addition. As someone else said, concepts are usually reviewed orally or in practice, not on paper. There aren't many worksheets for Level A and for B they aren't every day, however when there is a worksheet it says right in the manual which worksheet to use to go with which lesson. There are review sheets which aren't scheduled in the earlier levels, but the worksheets all correspond to a specific lesson and it's noted in the manual when you get to that lesson. April in NC
I just wanted to clarify that there is daily review with RS. They just don't necessarily use worksheets to accomplish it. Much of the review is found in the "Warm-Ups" section of each lesson, where you are given several concepts to review, with specific instructions on each one. For instance, depending on the level, you may be instructed to practice skip counting by 5's, then practice several two digit mental addition questions, then practice 3 subtraction strategy questions. We usually work through the warm-ups with a dry erase board. In Level C, they also dedicate every 6th lesson entirely to review. As the other posters mentioned, there are two different kinds of worksheets in RS. The normal "worksheets" are assigned in specific lessons in order to practice that lesson's concepts. The "practice pages" are drill sheets for practicing math facts. These can be photocopied or placed in a page protector, and assigned at your discretion to help with developing speed with math facts. (The manual generally tells you at what point you are able to start assigning each practice page, and after that you are allowed the flexibility to assign it as needed for your child.) If your child doesn't like drill sheets, all of these facts can be practiced with games, instead.
emmsmama
Yes, I was referring to Levels C and above. Even in C & D though, the worksheets are scheduled along with the lessons right in the manual. The practice/drill sheets aren't, but the worksheets are.
