way2cross
I was going to go with MFW Creation to Greeks, but it's so pricey. I think instead I'm going to combine SOTW 1 w/ activity book and MOH 1 (with reproducibles CD and craft pack) MOH seems to have a strong Biblical foundation and I'll add library books for Readers. I found a schedule online http://www.redshift.com/~bonajo/sotwmoh.htm. Is their a Reader list anywhere for MOH 1?? Has anyone tried this and had any luck?? Kids are ages 7 through 10. Chris in VA
I don't think there is a reader list online, but MOH does contain recommendations, and you can certainly use the AG for rec's, too. I've heard of many people who combine--it's a really good idea, I think, esp for your 10 yo.
atozmom
Is their a Reader list anywhere for MOH 1?? Yes, the back of the book itself will have a list of books that correlate with the lessons. You can also sign up for the MOH yahoo group. There is a wealth of information there. You will find book lists other than what are in the book, a list of movies, timeline figures, notes for the note cards, activities, and ideas for incorporating other curriculum. I know there was a SOTW schedule here as well. Here is the link: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MysteryofHistory1/ We have loved MOH. We have just finished volume 2 and will be moving on to volume 3 next year. I also love the way she gives different ideas and projects for 3 different age levels. If you are going to do the mapping activities, there are a couple of atlases that will be good to have. The Rand McNally Historical Atlas of the World & The Student Bible Atlas by Tim Dowley. These are also used with the future volumes. Enjoy your journey through HIStory! God Bless, Ann-Marie
MamaAkins
We just started with MOH/SOTW Vol 1 about a month ago. I'm using the same website that you listed to combine the two. We are using the audio cd's for some of it also (helps with pronunciation). We also have the SOTW Activity guide (using for book recommendations and some activities) as well as the craft cd from MOH. We are doing a notebook timeline using the figures from Homeschool in the Woods. I feel like we are covering all the bases and there are enough options for crafts, activities, etc. that I can find age-appropriate activities for each of my older children (ages 11, 7, and 5). So far, we are all loving it--the kids even said they want to continue doing some history over summer break!

God Bless, Ann-Marie Actually the booklist that is in the back of volume 1 is also in the files of the MOH yahoo group. :D The same for volume 2. The only booklist not public is the volume 3 list, which tripled or more the previous booklists. The publisher paid some gals to research it, so they will be keeping it private. Julie in MN
I was going to go with MFW Creation to Greeks, but it's so pricey. I'm sure your plan is just fine, but I just wanted to be sure you realized that the reason MFW is probably another $100 over using the materials you mention is that you would get 4 science books too. Just commenting on the "pricey" part.
atozmom
Actually the booklist that is in the back of volume 1 is also in the files of the MOH yahoo group. :D Thanks for clarifying that Heather!:) I had meant there were other lists in the files in addition to the list that is also in the back of the book. It was still too early for me this morning when I typed that out. I am surprised that anything made sense. I have a sick dh and dd with Strep throat. :( Sleep has been hard to come by the last few days.
