Veritas Press-Latin in a week here I come.

Recommended Posts

I can't believe I did it. I signed up for VP's Latin in a week course. I can't believe my dh agreed that it was worth the $. So, tomorrow morning at the break of dawn, I am going to log on to the course and go through all of Wheelock's Latin in one week. Please pray, meditate, light a candle and think whatever good thoughts you can about me and my family. This is insane, but I am excited. :D Well, 4am is gonna come awful early so...:auto:

I am VERY interested in hearing how this goes for you! I can't see having the funds for this at this time, but I would like to do this next summer. I read the link based on reading this very thread and I am excited about the concept.

I'm thinking "Latin Overload", of course, but I think it just may work!

Awaiting your report with baited breath........

Please report back and let us know how it's going -- I've been tempted by that course for the past few years, but didn't have the nerve to register, so you can be the guinea pig! :001_smile:

PS. And no fair posting your review in Latin, just to show off your new skills! ;)

We did this last year. DH, me and then 12yo son. It was fabulous, partly because you see that there is a FINITE body of Latin grammar to learn. You cross the Latin Sea instead of feeling adrift in the Latin ocean.

Who is your teacher?

Joanna Hensley.

Hi Pam! I'm taking the same class! It is so fun to be taking a class for me.

See you bright and early tomorrow morning! :)

That's great Yvonne! I am printing out the powerpoint so I can write less and pay attention more. Maybe I will be able to trans. before she gives the answer tomorrow. lol.

And Bill, thanks. :boxing_smiley:

That's a great idea. I wrote out all the conjugation charts and declension charts so I can have those in front of me tomorrow. Went through and declined a bunch of nouns and conjugated a bunch of verbs this afternoon to practice. It's becoming more automatic & I think that'll really help me tomorrow.

One thing I like about the class is that it gives a great overview of Latin grammar. It's like getting a skeleton to hang details on later. It's gonna take me a whole lot more than 8 hours to memorize all this vocab & grammar!

Day 4 done and I am so lost. I am just taking as many notes as I can and listening to the others. Hopefully I will get more out of this as I go through the textbook and listen to the lectures again. It has been fun though, in a weird sort of classical kind of way. :tongue_smilie:
