LNC
I have an older 27" basic tv. I would love to connect my laptop somehow to the tv for Watch it now Netflix movies. I googled how to set it up and came across this site. Is it really this complicated? http://www.hackingnetflix.com/2008/01/connecting-a-co.html Is there a simple cable I can buy at BestBuy? Monitor cable? And instructions for a non-techie would be great! Thanks!!
melissel
Oh, I was totally coming to ask a similar question! There's a device you can buy for $99: http://www.roku.com/what-to-watch.aspx?utm_source=google_medium=ppc_campaign=New%20-%20Roku%20Variations&gclid=CMO2g8_18JoCFQIWFQodIXdzJg I'm considering it for my DH for Father's Day but wanted to see if anyone here had anything to say about it first. I think the Xbox 360 can also stream Netflix to your TV. If there are other options, I'm :lurk5:
secular_mom
DH uses a VGA cable to connect his laptop to the TV so we can do this.
Mom2GirlsTX
You should be able to, we did for a couple of years by connnecting the older tv (about a 10 year old tv) to the laptop via and s connector. This instruction might help you http://www.svideo.com/compaq1700.html If not, do a google search of connecting an s cable to connect tv to netflix. Also, s cables are cheap, they are about $2.00 at Big Lots.
MomOfOneFunOne
Well, we just use a cable but we have a newer television (thank you Christmas party door prize). It was so easy and cheap I strongly encourage you to just go to radio shack/whatever, tell them what you have and ask for the necessary cable. I do suggest radio shack b/c in my experience, the older, more patient, knowledgeable ppl work there.
BikeBookBread
So it sounds to me like the S video cable is more flexible than the $99 Roku box! Woo hoo! One step closer to unplugging the cable! (this way we can watch HULU on our TV, too!)

Rumor has it that hulu will eventually play on roku as well.
