Help me list places like Williamsburg, Plimouth Plantation, etc..

Recommended Posts

I assume you're interested in the U.S. only?

Going from memory here, so spellings might be slightly off.

MA: Plimouth Plantation, Sturbridge Village, Salem Village

NH: Strawberry Banke

CT: Mystic Seaport

VA: Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestowne Settlement

UT: Pioneer Village

CA: Old Town San Diego

I generally call them living history museums in the U.S. In Europe, they seem to be called open-air museums.

There is another one in VIrginia in Staunton that focuses on different types of early American farms based on places of origin- Dutch settlers, English settlers, etc.

St. Augustine Florida has a living history village.

THere is an excellent one in the Alsace region of France.

WE also went to another excellent one in the Netherlands.

They are called open air museums in Europe.

There is also a SHaker living history museum in Massachusetts or NH or maybe both.
