Karen in CO
I have been going through lots of books about colonial times in the last few months. My favorite one that I had never heard of is Three Young Pilgrims by Cheryl Harness. It has great illustrations, simple but engaging text, interesting maps and detailed drawings and charts, and covers the hardships and simple joys of early colonial life and reads more like real history than a kiddie fairy tale. Kfamily
We haven't read it yet, but Yesterday's Classics has Boys and Girls of Colonial Days that we will using this fall. We will also be reading D'Aulaires book on George Washington. HTH:001_smile:

skaterbabs
My DD really liked "Independant Dames", "When Dolley Madison Saved George Washington" and "How Ben Franklin Stole the Lightening".
Aletheia Academy
Check out the suggestions at Beautiful Feet Books: http://www.bfbooks.com/s.nl/it.A/id.282/.f?sc=2&category=2 Put some of the titles in Amazon, and they will recommend a few not on the BF list, too. The Amazon prices are very good on many of the books. We're going to be using the BF unit study next year. :-)
