CalicoKat
my dd 10 would like to study more about animals, both the farm kind & exotic. Any thoughts on how to do this? I'm usually a pretty by-the-curriculum kind of gal. Thanks!
amtmcm
Christian Kids Explore Biology - lessons 11-30 are about birds and animals: http://www.brightideaspress.com/samples/CKEB_TOC.pdf These two books are used in My Father's World EX1850 and they look very good: The World of Animals (Parragon) The World of Animals (Answers in Genesis)

Suzannah
Do you mean for next year or just she'd like to study more about animals? If the latter I'd make a trip to the library, get some books and videos and call it good. If you would prefer something a little more challenging, but not requiring much of your time, it might be fun if she's a crafty-type to make lapbooks. Or I think a notebook page on the different kingdoms might be nice, then write a paragraph about animals that strike her fancy and file them in the proper kingdom. I realize that's not much different from what most do in 1st grade, but here at the end of the school year, or even as a summer activity, I think it would be good to have a more laid-back approach. Blessings! If you really do want a book, Apologia books are great. We haven't actually used any of the zoology ones yet (will next year) but we loved Botany and Astronomy.
