CactusPair
I used an Over-the-Shoulder-Baby-Holder Ring Sling with my older dc. But it was hot, with lots of material. I'm thinking of trying a different brand sling this time and am looking for something lighter-weight and not-so-hot. I need something comfortable, easy to use, with not a lot of complicated tying involved. The 3 slings I listed above are the ones I've heard of. Anyone use these and have opinions? Know any others you'd like to suggest? Thanks for any info!
KatieJ
My daughter makes ring slings in any weight fabric you want. Her favorites are eyelet fabric...she used to live in Florida and Hot was the word of the day! Her's are simple ring slings, no tying involved. She makes them long enough you can use the extra fabric for nursing, or will make it shorter if you prefer.
Mothersweets
I used a Hot Sling with my last dd and I felt sooo stylish! lol I, too, tried an Over-the-Shoulder one and boy, it was very bulky on me (I'm short, that probably made a difference). The HotSling was simple to use and I always felt comfortable and didn't worry about the baby falling. It felt very natural. She liked it, too. She would usually fall asleep when she was in it. They have so many different styles and patterns, too. It is lots of fun to pick one out!
HeatherLynn
I Like Hot Slings and Kangaroo Korner Pouch adjustable slings. :D
Carrie12345
I loved my Peanut Shell for its simplicity. It was a bit hot (fine for when we were in air conditioning), but I'm pretty sure they come in different fabrics.
scrappyhappymama
I used a Hot Sling last time and loved it. The key is getting the right size. My slept slept in his all the time- we never lugged the infant seat around! I've also heard great things about Slinglings and have one of those to try this time too. Once mine outgrows the pouch sling, my favorite carrier is the Baby Hawk mei tai.
HeatherLynn
Once mine outgrows the pouch sling, my favorite carrier is the Baby Hawk mei tai. I like my TH okay, but I LOVE LOVE my Hapai Baby!
Melinda S in TX
I normally use a wrap, and when baby is a little older, an Ergo. Last summer I needed something cooler for a week long cob workshop we were going to. This was outside in the Texas summer heat. Not a time to have baby smushed against you. This is what I bought and it worked wonderfully. http://www.taylormadeslings.com/tms/html/catalog.php?p_id=14 It's more of a mesh and not very stretchy, but it works great. The mesh lets the air flow better and baby and I were cooler. Melinda
Julie of KY
I used a Maya wrap and loved it.
classicHSmom
I have only tried Hotslings of the three you mentioned and love them. Size is key though. I have two in a smaller size (the suggested size for my weight/height/bust) that I used when ds was smaller; however, I just bought a third to use now that my ds is 30 lbs. We were both feeling a bit smooshed in the smaller size.
momee
I was given one of these http://www.comfyjoey.com/index.php and it's awfully easy to use. My baby's almost one though so for a little one, I'm not sure how it would work. It's basically a loop of fabric so it's really cool in warm weather but as for support, not so much. I've been using an Ergo and though it seems to be full of fabric, it's not been an issue. It's not super hot yet though but for my bad back and 23 lb baby, it's been wonderful. oliveview
I bought I don't know how many slings and hated all of them until I got a New Native Baby Carrier. Everything else was akward, uncomfortable, and/or hot. I loved it, loved it, loved it!! I could fold it up and put it in my pocket it was so small. My one made it through 3 babies and more washings than I can think of. That's another thing, when you wash it, there is nothing special...just throw it in with everything else and dry it just like everything else. LOVE IT!! HollyDay
I used a Maya Wrap when we lived in FL (and had babies :D). It was a lot of material, but it wasnt as hot or miserable as the Over the SHoulder.
patchfire
I love, love, love my Hotslings. I have four or five. It's an addiction. ;) After a point, though, I generally switch to a mei tai or the Beco. Both of which are also fabulous!
