whitestavern Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 My dd 8 is having a cooking themed birthday party next week. My husband's making his great homemade pizza dough and each girl will get their own ball to make a pizza. There will be all sorts of toppings to choose from. In addition, we'll do either cookie decorating, cupcake frosting/decorating or some dessert based cooking thing (ideas welcome!). I'm looking for ideas for downtime (our smallish kitchen won't hold all the girls at once). Games, contests, activities, etc. Any ideas? I know you guys won't let me down :) TIA! Quote

WTMindy Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 she bought a whole bunch of misc kitchen utensils at William Sonoma and had everybody make up a name for it and tell what it was for. She then read all the titles, plus the real one and people voted for what they thought was the true use. This was with adults, but it was hillarious because she got some random ones. She left the price tags on and returned them when she was done, which I don't know how you feel about the ethics of that, but that was what she did. Quote
WTMindy Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 buy some cheap white plates and some permanent paint and have them decorate a plate. Quote
Chris in VA Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Guess how many m&m's in a small jar, stamp print an apron (you can cut shapes out of potatoes, or apples, but I'd just get some stamps), decorate a potato person, cooking spoon doll, have some kids do part of the pizza meal in the kitchen while others work on apple turnovers in the dining room (or at another table). Then switch. Sounds like fun! I've been looking for an idea for dd's 8th birthday--maybe we'll do this. Quote
Jean in Newcastle Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 she bought a whole bunch of misc kitchen utensils at William Sonoma and had everybody make up a name for it and tell what it was for. Along this line - take some misc. kitchen utensils (from your own kitchen!) - put one in a paper bag. Each child puts their hands in and tries to figure out what it is just by feeling it. (Change the item as it is guessed). Quote
