Mommy7
It certainly does not appear to from the sample on their website. I am very particular about what my children read. I know this is a math program, but it does have a storyline. I just didn't want any unpleasant surprises down the road, kwim? Now, I know "objectionable" is a very subjective term. I am meaning from a Christian's point of view, I suppose. Not to offend anyone. I am just wanting someone likeminded to respond to this post or it won't do me any good. :)
Kathleen in VA
Well, it would be impossible to know what might offend you, but I can say that we are very conservative Christian family and I have used Key to Fractions, KT Decimals and KT Percents for my three oldest children and were never surprised by anything untoward. I plan on using it with the youngers as well. Just my experience, though.
home4school
Well, I was wondering this as well, as far as "objectionable" or "questionable". Its seems like I remember a thread on the old board about references to beer and "grass" where he says something like "not the kind you smoke", or something to that effect. I was going to go back and try to find it before I order, but I never have. Maybe it wasn't even LoF. I'm hoping someone who knows what I'm talking about will chime in. scrapbabe
I'm going to say no. We haven't made it all the way through, but after you asked the question I went and browsed through the remaining chapters. It certainly looks fine to me. I have not problem having my 12 and 9 year olds read it. Nothing objectionable. If you decided there was a problem, you could certainly resale it fast enough, but I can't imagine you finding a problem. Mommy7
Thank you so much, Sue!!! I am so glad they removed the objectionable stuff, because I sooo want to use it. When do you recommend using it? My dd is using TT7. Would I use Life of Fred: Fractions just after the fraction part? Also wondering the same question about the Decimals and Percents one...after she has studied that part? Or more to the end of the year as a summary type thing?
Night Elf
The following quotation is taken directly from Fred's Home Companion Beginning Algebra. It is on page 12, the section titled 'A Note to Parents Who Are Homschooling Their Kids.' "There is a spiritual dimension, but it is not preachy. It is most overt in the dedication page, but elsewhere it is more of a subtle undercurrent that sets the tone as to how life should be lived. The chaplain, as mentioned above [in previous paragraphs], is literate. He is also loving and caring. He has a quiet romantic dinner (p. 249) with his wife as they celebrate their thirteenth wedding anniversary.* They drink a glass of wine. This is contrasted on the next page with a car that zooms past with the radio blasting and an empty beer can thrown out the car window." "* This chaplain happens to be Protestant. There are no traces of anti-Catholicism in any of my books."

I'll let someone else help you with this question since I've never used TT and have only used LoF Algebra.
