She had a bad day today for several reasons. Tonight I took her and a friend out for ice cream. Her friend was being very mean to her. She said some hurtful things and I tried to change the conversation several times and joke around a little to lighten the mood. After we took her friend home my dd and I spoke about the experience. My dd said that she knew her friend was under a lot of pressure right now and probably didn't realize how much pressure she was under. My dd went on to say that her friend normally isn't like this and that she must be stressed and that she felt sorry for her. WOW! I would not have been that gracious and understanding. I hurt for my dd. She was able to look rationally at the situation and try to understand her friend's actions based on her friend's character and past situations. My family is so different from me. Both my kids and my dh handle difficulties and situations with logic and reason. I, on the other hand, am queen of over-reacting and as my kids say, "freaking out." LOL!

:D Maybe you should rub their heads each morning and throughout the day for "luck", so that their coolness will rub off on you :D (wish I had someone who could rub off on me like that, LOL)

That's awesome. I'm sure she was a little embarrassed in front of you by how her friend acted. How great that she has the perspective she has. Won't that be a wonderful asset when she's married someday?
