RhondaM. Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I could really use some info on this program. How does it work? How are books lists selected?? Hi Holly. What ages are you considering this for? And which guides? Last year for my 5th grader I used the guides for Ancients/Rome and Greece. We used it very loosely. This year I used the guide for Middle Ages...still rather loosely...for my 6th grader. The guides offer suggestions for spines or real books to lead you through history. We chose to use the H.A. Guerber histories for our spine. My ds likes them and I don't have to worry about not finding a library book on a topic in time. It was easy to divide up the guide to last however many weeks I needed it to last, and to add in maps (Knowledge Quest) and literature. We have found it a very easy/enjoyable way to get history done And we love the commentary! :) Hope this helps a little. Quote
SnowWhite Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I have the first in this series, but haven't used it yet. How it works: The book is divided into topics, with Christian commentary about God's hand in history. After the commentary, comes a list of books, along with suggested grade levels and sometimes pertinent info. (ie, Don't miss this, boys love this, great illustrations, some bias against Puritans in this...) There are ThinkWrite questions to help students respond to what they have read. Have you seen the samples at truthquesthistory.com? They are very extensive. Quote
