how many of you order groceries from amazon.com

this sounds a bit tempting...only needing to run into the real stores for milk, bread, and produce....i shop at a meat market once every 3 or so months for meat....also, i make a trip to sam's club every so often....shipping is free on most grocery items if spending over $25....has anyone compared prices to their local stores?.....

I haven't done a thorough comparison, but what I did see, I didn't like. The prices were very high and the selection was poor.

 

This was a couple months ago . . . perhaps it's changed since then? But, no, it didn't seem like a good deal to me at all.

They don't sell nearly enough of what I need to prompt me to buy all my stuff there. They do have some good prices on certain things I use all the time (my Seventh Gen items, for example) and occasionally they run specials on some luxury items (for us) that normally would cost us more (Newman's Own cookies and Back to Nature crackers), but I don't think I'd buy there on a regular basis.

I've ordered a couple of times. Dh keeps his office at school stocked with noodle things, etc, and we were able to order some of the healthier ones at Amazon for quite a bit less than they would cost in the store. And occasionally there's a deal on some gluten-free item or other that I use regularly, and it's been worth it.

 

I can't imagine it saving me any effort for foods I can buy at a reasonable cost locally though. I'd still have to get produce at least once or twice a week -- and it's not a burden to pick up the couple of dry goods I go through when I'm out for perishables.

i guess i hadn't really noticed before that you could buy groceries from amazon....i see that they really wouldn't have everything i would want....but i do have to say, the internet is a really cool thing....

I haven't been able to find my favorite Kashi 7 grain Pilaf anywhere since we moved. A search on the Kashi site tells me it's not available anywhere within 60 miles, and probably farther.

 

But I can buy it from Amazon, cheaper than I had been buying it at the grocery store before our move. And I can get free shipping, hooray!
