swimnactmom
We have been using Galore Park French and need to switch. I really like the "school approach" of Galore Park. It offers opportunities for writing and teaches grammar (although weak on speaking), but I never had french so it is difficult for me to teach. My husband (who took french) is just too busy to keep up with the teaching. I need something else (Middle School) that: 1. doesn't require a french speaking parent AND 2. is strong on writing, grammar, and speaking/pronunciation. Do you know of anything like that? MIch elle
I'm looking for a Spanish program just like what you're looking for in French. I have The Leanables French 1 & 2 and never fully used it. I like it but never got around to it! My older ds is struggling in French 1 at his high school and I WISH we had dropped Latin in gr. 8 and used it! Have you looked at Memoria Press First Start French? Yes, it's young but it includes the parts you want. I would recommend The Learnables French to use with First Start French to give you the grammar (First Start) and listening/reading skills (Learnables) needed for middle school. LanaTron
Someone on the high school board recommended using the Learnables French with Barron's French the Easy Way for more explicit grammar practice. My dc use Learnables, and we are going to add in the Barron's book this fall. HTH
Jen the RD
Check out www.nallenart.com . This is a Canadian French program set up in a workbook style. I don't know if it meets all your criteria, but it would be worth looking at. Jennifer
