Gini Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I've never used Homer, but will this coming fall. I'll be using this with my 14 yod. Do I use the Harvey's Elementary or the Harvey's revised? I'd really appreciate some "expert" opinions from you ladies. Thanks so much. Quote
Beth in Central TX Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I'm using Homer A this year. The core book suggests that you use Harvey's Elementary Grammar Part I or an equivalent grammar text. Have you seen the workbook for older students? (http://www.lulu.com/content/389498) This might work better for your daughter since the Homer books are designed for 5th grade. (http://home.att.net/~mikejaqua/whichbookstobuy.html) HTH! Quote
Beth in Central TX Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 I forgot to mention that I don't know if Harvey's Elementary Grammar is suggested for the older student workbook. You can probably ask on the forums though: http://lene.proboards15.com/ Quote
Gini Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 I've been thinking. Just because she's "Older", doesn't mean she wouldn't benefit from the Elementary instead of the Revised. I think I'll just go with that one since it's also recommended. Thanks so much. You've been a big help. Quote
Susan in SoCal Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 and just because it says "Elementary" doesn't mean it's simplistic!! It's a meaty little text. Actually, either Elementary or Revised would suit your purposes. But Elementary is what is scheduled for you in Homer, so it's likely a better fit from an ease of scheduling perspective. Quote
