    Hi!

Hello! I am new to this forum, but have been on the site in the past. I am at the end of our homeschool journey and looking for info on the CLEP exams. Thanks!
  2. My name is Jenn. I have two daughters that I homeschool. One in 6th grade and one in preschool. I live in Northern CA wine country and am married to a law enforcement officer.
  3. Hey Everyone, I've been homeschooling since my daughter was school age, so about 11 years. I read The Well Trained Mind two years ago but only just discovered the message board. My oldest is 15 and finishing 9th grade. She took all her classes through Keystone this year. Next we're going to do a mix of Keystone and at home classes. Keystone is good, but she fell behind having never had a deadline before. I think it was a good experience for her. Next come the up and coming sixth graders, my 11yo and my best friend's 10yo. They are only a few months apart, and as we live together are more sisters than friends. They are finishing up MUS Epsilon. We used Saxon Grammar but got tired of it and switched to some workbooks I had lying around. The littlest is 5 (and a half.) She loves her MUS Primer, but isn't as enthusiastic about OPG. I had to make a deal with her that she just has to read the practice words then she can read a book to me from a pile of books that came with some Reader Rabbit software a friend gave us. Some days she's impossible, others she amazes me. I guess that's really true about all of them (and maybe us as well.) As for me, I work full time, my live in best friend is home during the day with the kids. I assign their lessons and review them with older kids in the evening. We go over anything they missed and work together on any group projects. I also do the youngest's lessons in the evening. It's a lot to do, but I love it. It's funny looking at colleges with one kid while teaching another to read.
  4. Hi everyone... I am a mommy to 5 (almost 6) great kids. I homeschooled my oldest using WTM methods for 8 years, now he is in 10th grade and has a 3.9 gpa. TWTM works!!!! :hurray: My next two are beautiful step daughters (9 and 11) who only live here part time, they go to public school. My youngest boys are 6 and 4. My 6yo is in public K this year, not my first choice, but he loves it and is doing great. My new husband and I will be having a new baby next summer. I will be starting over on my homeschool journey next fall with lots of cool afterschooling going on now. I am glad to be back to the forums... it was like missing a special friend. :grouphug: I am a full time Massage Therapist now and will be dropping down to 2 or 3 days a week this spring. I love my job and I love helping people. Can't wait to get to know everyone all over agian. KeadyMommy
  5. Hi there. I'm new here and learning the site as I go. I was publicly schooled all my life and I've never really really self-taught myself subject matter. I'm currently going on my second semester in my first year of college without foundations in the (4)areas below. For me that would be: Chemistry Physics Calculus Pre-Calculus Could you provide great links? Could you tell me effective ways of instilling the knowledge? Also any detailed advice on how to be self taught and teach yourself these things is much appreciated. I will visit every link. Also, I think the full fledged thing might be, not sure, but could be harder to grasp than an introductory course in these subjects. Actually I think algebra and trig are more familiar so just the pre-calc intro course would be sufficient. I can't wait to learn physics and chemistry. Baby steps, thanks.:seeya:
  6. I took an extended board break starting over Lent...but here I am again! Much has changed and I don't even know if people will remember me! Anyway, I'm Jennifer, living in Colorado with one husband and 4 kids. I am only homeschooling one this year-my 9yo. My 7 and 6 yo are in 2nd grade and K at our local ps. Still have a little mommy guilt over that one, but things are so much better in our home right now that most of the time I feel we made the right decision to send the girls to school. Our "caboose" is our 2yo son who we brought home from Guatemala almost a year ago. It wasn't until I stopped coming here that I realized how much support and friendship can be found online, and on these boards in particular. I'm looking forward to participating again!! Jennifer
