D13 is a 8th grade public school kid D13 "afterschooled" Foerster Algebra I in 7th grade while taking Algebra I in 7th grade at school. She did great with both. She has been resistent to really try AOPS pre algebra and Intro to Algebra texts (Have them both). I asked her to go through the AOPS Intro Alg text and work on anything she did have in Foerster. She is doing fine with this and not geting frustrated like she has before everytime she try AoPS. Question: Woud it be ok to start AOPS intermediate while taking geometry in public school? I was thinking we could slo

Bouncing around ideas...... Background D12 is in 7th grade public school Algebra I We supplement her PS Algebra I class at home. . She is just now starting back to Foerster Alg I after taking a long break and working through another text (Advanced Math for Young Students: A first course in Algebra). I am thinking she will finish the Foerster Alg I text by the time 7th grade is over at the latest. I am thinking of starting Foerster Alg II right after that and taking it very slow. So she could do that over the 8th grade while in geometry and 9th grade while in Alg II. While in 8th g

So my son, who otherwise did pretty well on his ACT, told me that his Math Relief Algebra II (from Keyboard Enterprises) lessons didn't help him at all on his ACT math section -- he says he didn't see any Algebra problems on that section that resembled anything he had done w/ Math Relief. Has anyone else had this problem with Math Relief? I looked at the copyrights on the discs and they are a combo of 1992 and 2005. I have a daughter who is ready for Algebra II and I'm now doubting whether I will actually use my son's Math Relief discs for her -- perhaps the ACT math has changed too muc

Does anyone have one for the 8th edition? I know it's easy to just do the next thing, but I didn't know if there were certain areas that might take longer to get through. I've tried to look online with few results. Thanks.

Any advice on doing these two maths concurrently? Ds is considering doubling up next year (10th) so he can study Pre-Calc in 11th and Calculus in 12th. Our current thinking (as of this morning) is to schedule two credits of math and if it becomes too much bump down to one credit and rotate them, taking two years to complete both. Any tips or trick, words of advice if you have taken that route? The current plan is to use what I already own which is either Discovering Geometry or a 1985 Jurgensen Geometry text, and Lials Intermediate Algebra.

Hi~ I recently purchased Keyboard Enterprise's Math Relief complete Algebra II dvd/worksheet set and I'm surprised to find that it contains only 83 lessons. Has anybody else here used it and ( hopefully) found it covers all the student needs to know for ACT/SAT tests as well as a full year's high school equivalent? Or maybe not? My son is enjoying it much more than Teaching Textbooks but I am concerned that it may fall short of what is required, even though it was enthusiastically recommended to me. Any suggestions for additional resources if we need to fill in gaps? Thanks, D

My 10th grader used TT for algebra I last year at a tutorial and made an A-. She didn't enjoy it, it wasn't easy for her, but she worked hard. She's a good student but more artsy and writing oriented. In fact she's working on a novel- the whole of which she first meticulously outlined, and story arced, etc, etc. The novel is for fun. This year I decided to let her do TT Algebra II on her own at home partially to save money:tongue_smilie: It's been a disaster. We ended up getting a weekly tutor and backing up a few chapters about a month and a half ago, after realizing that she wa
