Is there a book list and guide that is similar to beautiful feet in the sense that it has good historical fiction and goes chronologically? My kids really enjoy reading and we haven't been doing the history or science like I've wanted but doing it through reading would kill two birds with one stone, lol! I don't want to get very specific books, I would prefer a list that says get a book about George Washington and then have a few things to discuss about that time period. Or about Henry ford and then have ideas on how to lead them in learning from that subject, etc. I feel like I need a guide to connect the historical dots for me since I have little experience in connecting the dots for people, time periods and how it affected this and that. I would use BF but I don't have the money to get the books. We do have a pretty good library so I could get books about certain people or time periods, as long as its not specific, and use those to teach history and/or science. ....Unless the guides for bf are done in such a way that I could get the guide and use whatever the library has on that subject, could that work?
We will be using (some of) SOTW 4 for history this year and was wondering if anyone has some good book suggestions for 3rd graders for the Modern History time period. The activity guide seems to have suggestions for slightly older kiddos. My girls read well, so I'm not so much looking for books on a 3rd grade reading level, but books with 3rd grade content. :) Any suggestions for any books in general for this time period would be great (even for the 6th grader)! :)
