Just wondering if anyone was planning on going to this convention. Pudewa, Kern, Sandi Queen, and Dr. Joan Cotter will all be there along with local speakers including Zan Tyler, Lori Hatcher and a talk by Dr. MIck Zais on school choice followed by a Q&A session. http://www.midlandshomeschoolconvention.com/

Edit to my original post, as the meetup has been changed from Rock Bottom at 11:30 am to Room 250 at the convention center at 5:30-6:30 pm Friday--already we have a much larger group committing to the meetup at the 5:30 time than the 11:30--the more the merrier! __________________________________________________________________________ If you're going to the Midwest Homeschool Convention, we'd love to meet you for lunch supper on Friday, April 5, 2013 at 11:30 am 5:30-6:30 pm at the Rock Bottom Brewery Room 250 at the convention center. Elizabeth started the planning and asked me to take over the coordinating of the get together. And Elizabeth was able to snag us the room at the convention center! I think it's much more convenient for most of us. We have a discussion group on facebook, which you're invited to, but I thought I'd post here also, to catch anyone not on facebook or who isn't aware of that group. Here's Elizabeth's info on the meetup: From those who have replied on facebook, so far we have around 7-8 planning to come. If you'd like to join us, let me know. Here is their menu. Prices are reasonable. __________________________________________________________________________________________ You can bring your own food in from the exhibit hall or wherever, but we're also placing a group order from Chipotle. Two of us are going to pick it up and will bring it to the room. If you'd like to order Chipotle, pm me your email address. I'm sending out the group order invites tomorrow (Monday, April 1). If I don't have your email before I send the invites out, I can't send any more, but I can enter your order manually into the group order. If you need me to place your order manually, go here to Chipotle's site, enter Cincinnati, OH for the location, choose the Fountain Square restaurant. Then you can look at the menu and make your choices. (For some dumb reason, since all Chipotle restaurants are closed for Easter, it won't let you even look at the online ordering menu today. You should be able to see it using the instructions above starting tomorrow, April 1.) If you've given me your email address, you'll receive an email Monday (I will probably wait until later afternoon to give more people a chance to send their emails, if interested) from Chipotle that has a link that takes you to the group order so you can place your order. There are bottled beverages available--water, juice and sparkling juice. Please don't order a fountain drink, as I don't think we'll be able to transport them without a mess. We have 13-14 planning to order Chipotle so far. There are others planning to bring their own food.

Quick background: We make one trip to the US every year, for 3 to 4 weeks at a time; part of that is in CO and part in TX. This year we are thinking Aug/Sep for our trip. There is a convention in August, SWB will be there, that I could go to if we go early enough in August. But. Here's what's holding me back --- we only spend at most 3 weeks in TX. That's to see my mom, dh's mom, dh's sister, my grandparents, maybe my sister, our boys' friends, etc. It's hectic. In the 3 weeks or so, I will spend 2 days/1 night just me & my mom; that's our time every year. I am also hoping against hope that a friend will come down and she and I will spend 3 days/2 nights together, just us. Add in the convention, and that's 2 more days/possibly the 1 night away. That adds up to 7 whole days that I would be off doing my own thing, leaving DH and the boys to their own devices. And 4 of those days would be on weekends. That seems like a lot, no??? It wouldn't be consecutive, but still.... 'Course, I was thinking maybe I could convince DH to come with to convention, he & I stay the night and have it be romantic getaway + hs convention all in one..Or, if he's not up for that, maybe I drag my mom to convention?? Do our "girl's weekend" there...?? I don't want to do this with my friend coming in, she's graduated her hs students and I'm sure would not want to spend her time listening to workshops. Well, neither probably would my mom, but she'd do it if I asked. If I take my mom, I could listen to one workshop only, buy the rest later and just shop the exhibits. then mom and I have time to do other stuff, and she can help me think through purchases..... hmmm......thoughts?? ideas??? Help me make this work, or convince me it's a bad idea. If you had (at most) 21 days in TX, would you spend 7 of them away from family?? Or, is 5 vs. 7 really that big of a difference???

Peace Hill Press is on the (enormous!) list of vendors coming to the Midwest Homeschool Convention April 16-18 in Cincinnati. EEEEkkkk! I've never been able to go to a convention where they were represented. Midwest Homeschool Convention is sponsoring a give away on my blog. You can win a family pack of tickets (worth $75) so you can go, too. Details here: http://www.lifewithmy3boybarians.com/2008/12/lwm3b-give-away-homeschoolers-this-ones.html I would love to know which WTMers are going! I've only ever met Jennefer at Smooth Stones. But I have many of you on my blog reader and have gained much from your posts. It would be fun to meet any of you going. Warmly, Darcy
