  1. SWB has mentioned board games on her blog / twitter during the past few weeks. (See http://www.susanwisebauer.com/blog/.) Since this strikes us as a wonderful way to have fun family time AND potentially sharpen skills, we wanted to start this thread for suggestions. Our sons are 6.5 and almost 4. So, games that are appropriate for those ages will be greatly appreciated. HOWEVER, we also keep a "someday/maybe" list that will serve as a good parking lot for the games that we want to consider when the kids are older. Thanks in advance, The Prewitts
  2. We used AO Horizons in Pre-K and K for ds6; we're switching to a pure TWTM approach this year for 1st. Our ds3 (almost 4) would be using Horizons Pre-K this upcoming year ... if we hadn't switched. TWTM seems very unstructured at this level. (Please don't "read into" the word unstructured. That may well be the best approach.) On the other hand, Horizons is very structured at this level...daily lessons plans, etc. Since we've not taught 1st grade, we're not having "wait, shouldn't we be doing X" thoughts. However, we have a point of reference with regard to Pre-K and K. Accordingly, we're experiencing a lack of structure angst. Anybody with been there, done that experience who cares to comment on this issue? Thanks in advance, David & Robin Prewitt
  3. TWTM includes resources for blackline maps in the 1-4 history/geography chapter. However, I see that the SOTW Activity Guides are supposed to have maps. (Obviously, we've not purchased...yet.) So, for those who have been using the AGs, should we purchase the other blackline maps? Thanks in advance, Prewitts DS6 - 1st grade DS4 - tagging along
  4. We understand SWB's reasons for not including Bible curriculum suggestions in TWTM. However, our local church doesn't have suggestions for a homeschool scope-and-sequence. So...does anyone have a suggestion for a classical method Bible curriculum? In case it helps, we're very conservative Baptists. Thanks in advance, The Prewitts DS6 - 1st grade next year DS3 - Pre-K next year
  5. Sagira: Thanks for the tip. When I checked buy.com, it says they're out of stock, too.
  6. We've used Horizons for Pre-K and K for ds6. We're planning to closely follow TWTM 3rd ed. starting next year for first grade. Amazon and Rainbox Resource seem to indicate this book isn't available as a new one. Does anybody know? Any suggestions for an alternative? Thanks!
