  1. Our oldest son went from Singapore 5 straight into our own Pre-Algebra and did very well. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  2. Have to reply :) When I first met Alesia (my wife, the teacher in UnLock Math) I told her she was going to have to slow down her speaking because my ears didn't hear that fast. I was from rural Georgia and she was from Canada and our speaking styles were very different :) Don't have any recommendations but would appreciate learning what works for your child so I can make recommendations for those that contact us. We are planning on close-captioning our videos for this very reason.
  3. If you want online I would encourage you to take a look at Mr.D Math he teaches in a way that really connects to students. I've always told my wife (also a high school math teacher) that she is the kind of teacher they make movies about and I see the same in Dennis DiNoia (Mr.D).
  4. My wife and I met Dennis DiNoia (Mr.D) in Alaska at homeschool conventions there this year. We were very impressed with his ability to connect with students and his passion for teaching math. We were fortunate enough to forge a friendship over several conventions that we both attended and would even send parents to each others booths telling them to go with whichever teacher their child connected with better. It was really refreshing to be able to have a non-competitive relationship with a "competitor :)
  5. No advertising, please. Please accept my apology. It was not my intent to "advertise" but I shall refrain from suggesting our curriculum in the future.
  6. I think our curriculum would be a perfect fit but you can also look at mathhelp.com and Mr.D Math. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  7. Try https://www.kutasoftware.com/freeipa.html for free printable worksheets. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  8. I'd keep it for him to reference as mentioned above. It's tough to store all those facts in your head :) Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  9. I would begin by figuring out what type of learner he is, how he learns best. And then look for a curriculum that teaches him in the way that he learns. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  10. Thank you Susan! I am going back to review a couple of replies that I've already posted. it's hard not to be exuberant about our program but I'll make sure and refrain myself :) Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  11. Welcome, I'm new here myself! Wish I could help with your question but 5th is as far as we've gone with Singapore. With our eldest (10) we started him in Pre-Algebra after grade 5 of Singapore. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  12. You can "adapt" Saxon by not doing all the questions if your daughter is understanding the material. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  13. We have what I believe to be the best math program on the market for struggling learners. That said, a tutor might be the best and fastest route for her. The fact that he's backed her up to Pre-Algebra speaks to some serious gaps that no Algebra 2 curriculum can overcome. Like a lot of others I wish I had better news :( Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
  14. If your daughter likes Saxon I'd stick with it. There are ways to make Saxon less "time consuming" for her as well. As long as she is understanding the concepts you could cut the problems that she does in half. I find that Saxon tends to include more practice than most kids need. 15. Hello everyone! My experience with homeschooling began in 1981. My mother saw homeschool pioneer John Holt on the Phil Donahue Show and shortly after that at age 9 my homeschooling adventure began. It continues today as my wife, a fellow homeschool alum, and I homeschool our own kids while building what we believe to be the best homeschool math curriculum, UnLock Math. I welcome the opportunity to learn and share within the community you have here. Warm Regards, Matthew Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
