  1. I'm seeing stuff online about dry ice cooling the metal to bring it back to shape. Or Heating it with a blow dryer then cooling it with cold carbon dioxide from a compressed air can to bring it back to shape. Have you ever attempted this yourself, and if so do you have advice? It's a small but very very visible dent in a very pricey appliance door. Full replacement will cost $300 or so. Is there a downside to trying these DIY fixes, any reason why I should be wary of just giving it a try, is there any chance I could make it any worse? Thanks! -GG
  2. My mom does. It looks to me like she buys things that I'd see in an aquarium, like the bridge and so on look like stuff from a pet store.
  3. Praying for God's powerful hand over him, the search effort, and your whole family. :grouphug:
  4. I read Miss Peregrines a couple of years ago... I can hardly remember it. I guess I am reading too much. DD7 is reading Harry Potter 1, book and audiobook. Various other things like the complete Beatrix Potter collection. Read aloud still Tanglewood Tales for boys and girls by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Her jaw drops slowly as I read - I've never seen her so engrossed. It's time for us to get some new interesting titles started. Me: I'm reading BFSU our science text, TWTM4 and lots of web articles and blogs and so on right now. I'd like to finish the 5th Wave by (? I'm guessing) Rick Yancey then re-read Marie Kondo's books on tidying, among a couple of the books on my wish list.
  5. This too shall pass, as they say. Moving days are my own personal hell, then add on top of it family members with anxiety / panic and problems with last minute second guessers and like I said... It's hell... But we all survive it one way or another... Good luck! :grouphug:
  6. Usually I only see other people's faults in myself when it comes to my parent's faults that I've "inherited" ..... Otherwise beyond that I usually let myself remain blind to my faults. Undisciplined Lazy Unobservant Poor communicator Awful memory Poor follow through And I could go on lol. Sad thing is until recently (10 yrs?) I was operating under the delusion that I had no faults. It's a sad by product of an overly accepting and over praised upbringing: "you are amazing! Perfect just the way you are!" So I don't think I over focus on my faults or anything, maybe under focusing on them when I was young means it's harder to cope with the idea I have them, or is why I have so many to work on, I don't know! not that it's all my moms fault I turned out like that, haha my own personality played an important part in the failure.
  7. This week basic goals - will edit or quote or something as I go :) {Assuming I can kick my cold early in the week} 1-2 housekeeping projects: paint stained knots on trim. Garage tidy Training goals: 20 minute run. 20 minute run. 5-10 mins Abs/core 3-4 times Five days of school Monday so far: cold is worse. I wouldn't call it a full day school but 1/2 day is enough for today. Counting the play style things I can still "count" keyboard music time and her reading aloud to me to make me feel better :)
  8. Church Get DD and DH off to symphony Serious rest and hydration - kick this cold's butt before it knows what hit it. Watch TV Finished my 7th huge glass of water /OJ / tea :) that's progress Knit Read Remove A/Cs Prep Monday and Tuesday read aloud lessons audiobook style and organize school schedule to allow me to step away for a few days but not cancel school.
  9. I could google it but... That would deprive you of the pleasure of discussing your success :) What is the foam roller thing about/for? Thanks :)
  10. Crazy housekeeping catch up Seal counters - loop till next time Apple crisp delegate Vac up down and basement All bathrooms - loop it till next time All laundry catch up and put away Wood splitter oil change 20 min run Abs/core work Reading -maybe
  11. I started my preseason training last week, it's going well so far. I've moved on from floor yoga and stretches nearly daily through early Sept to a goal of daily core and abs of one kind or another, even if just quick before bed. Goal almost daily of a few squats, lunges, leg strengthening yoga, or weightlifting for legs. It's been one week of abs and legs and I'm doing great so far haha... On that not I'm gonna go get that done before I conveniently "forget," thanks for reminding me!
  12. I do not happen to be in the kind of situation where as a SAHM I can or should expect my DH to do more to help me with what should rightly be within my job description, given the income he earns, that it gives us incredible freedom and me the ability to stay home and homeschool, and the stress he is under from his industry. I know what it's like to feel pulled in lots of directions as well. We have had many issues around this imbalance between his and my "jobs" and how well I do my "job". A lot of it has to do with stress, disorder causes stress. You and your DH have to find a balance that works for you, every situation is very different. I think in our situation what matters most is I'm untidy and the DH is tidy. I'm undisciplined and he is disciplined. It's so so so hard to change but I feel you, and I'm working on it too! :grouphug: What's helped me is to build a routine starting first thing in the morning 3 chores bang done before anything else happens, for example. another important thing that helped me was developing speed focus and efficiency when cleaning - cramming more product into less time spent :) Just getting in a better habit of putting stuff away immediately before going on to the next thing has helped too. It's not sexy, it's boring and annoying but it is what it is!
  13. School - try to keep up with DD's voracious pace! - epic fail today. Just 3 things done and was a huge struggle. She did most of today's work earlier this week so it's ok, but I really don't get what drives her to "self study" 50 spelling words on her own on Tuesday of this week, and have such A fully unproductive day today! Home - vac up and down - nope. Wasted too much time on school lol. Core and leg workout - nope Walk - two quick ones Prep driving plan Pack travel dinner Leave for opera at 4pm :) :)
  14. Gracious! That's good to know! Yes my skill set currently does not include glades... im not great at speed checking one bit in there yet. I'm glad you shared, if it is any easier on the knees and I need a different hobby in future this might be a good fit for me to try out :)
  15. Haha I'm very punctual today! 16. That is so funny, my DH had worse seasonal affect disorder / depression the winters he wasn't snowboarding, and we also manage it better thru making ourselves get out on the mountain. Our brains are crazy.
  17. Any judgy tone was totally unintentional! I get a rush sometimes just looking around at nature, used to hike a lot I could describe a similar feeling doing that! Edit: So by less adrenaline I did really mean less actual adrenaline, not that it is any less worthy of a pleasure rush. No less worthy or less awesome... I'm curious about two things here, 1) member winter hobby choices for parents not just kids and 2) any other off topic things that give you a similar feeling or rush, no matter what (or what speed) it is! I appreciate the responses, thanks all!
  18. We live rural. We don't have activities worked into our schedule yet. I'm Not sure that we will. We have to be very very very selective due to the energy & time it takes to run the home based office / succeed in DH's industry... We find ways to get enough variety as a family (not just kid activity) without leaving the neighborhood or a 2 mile radius whenever possible. Even grocery shopping trips and commuting for work is *super strictly* managed and while at first i felt a bit stir crazy now I am used to it and LOVE having all the energy, time, AND money I used to "waste" just driving around for stuff that is not truly necessary, at least for this season in our lives. Even church. Rather than drive 40 mins to our church we watch it streaming live online :)
  19. In my opinion / experience, it may have more to do with women giving up the illusion of freedom (as they see it,) compared to what they think it means / says about a woman who decides to be a SAHM. Or what they feel is actual freedom, compared to spending all day with kids vs. other adults. I have done more mental acrobatics than ever before since deciding to homeschool. I keep wondering what skills I'm developing here for myself. Discipline, planning, scheduling, independent problem solving, interpersonal skills, leading from behind, what else? It should be considered special training! Every homeschooling parent should claim some kind of specific thing on their resume... Not sure what thou but it sure shouldn't be empty looking years!
  20. School stuff House stuff Dye hair Core and squats work out - easy AS MUCH coffee as necessary :) Laundry Plan outfit and driving route for opera
  21. Ahead of addressing the homeschool I address what it often means: one income. Well, my family was already kind of "set up" to homeschool because my DH's practice allowed me to be a SAHM. So switching to homeschool made a lot of sense for us, we were already a one-income family. Homeschooling takes work but it is super rewarding,, and with DH's mobile office / work from home thang we get to do school on the boat in the summer or get to snowboard weekdays together in the winter. Lol, ya we are spoiled 🎉:)
  22. I started soft training for this upcoming season today, so Snow is top-of-mind today for me! I'm obsessed. Addicted is a good word for it. And I have a new snowboard and bindings setup this season... I love TO DEATH that my whole family rides together. Nothing can replace that bonding :) If your "addiction" is off topic, plz share anyway. Or if something totally unrelated to this poll makes you feel like Superwoman (Superman) and is pg rated, plz share! Hehee. FTR I also love to knit and do needlepoint, not with the same level of intensity though.
