  1. Well, Obama had just as many points of what he wanted to do with Iraq/Afganistan/Iran. And for both of them, they didn't say anything new about that particular issue.
  2. I think it was a dead freakin heat. Both had places where they were the stronger candidate, and both had places where they were too negative, or too vague, or too disingenuous. I agree with Kate, I didn't hear anything new. That was frustrating.
  3. :iagree: Gonna hafta agree with Bill here...I'm lovin this! Bring on the rest of the debates!
  4. Its going to be a trainwreck. And FWIW, I feel the eroding of confidence in Palin as well.
  5. I agree with a lot of what you said laylamcb, even though I believe we differ in some fundamental opinions. Nice to hear an independent's voice. I, and probably the others who brought it up, didn't mean to sound calloused about McCain's war experience. It does speak to the strength of his character. Not intending to take anything away from that, and I don't intend to stop my ears because its painful. Thats not it. I think the frustration lies in that people, all of us regardless of party affiliation, would like some forward-looking dialogue. From BOTH candidates. And I also prefer the sort of matter of fact, analytical persona. But its not an election-decider for me. :)
  6. No, please no! That was too painful to go through again. :D
  7. Jenny! Thanks for the link. Very sweet. :)

  8. It seems to me that green line stayed right around the blue line A LOT. I even got up to look at the tv to prove to my DH that they weren't tracking the blue line at one certain point. Turned out I was very wrong...they were just right on top of each for a long time. :)
  9. Obama did grimace a bit, and McCain made some condescending chuckles. Its hard to keep your cool in a debate.
  10. IF that be true, he could still turn his whole body towards the person who is talking with him. I'm sure in his regular life, he looks at the people around him.
  11. Everytime he did that, played the POW card, that green independent line went down. Every time either candidate started getting negative on the other, the green line went down. I don't think either candidate was a clear winner. But I do believe Obama held his own with McCain who does have more foreign experience then he does, if that matters. I'm tired of hearing about who did what in the past. I want to know who's going to do what NEXT, with we have to work with.
  12. Hello friend! Come join the TEA group here too, don't forget.

  13. I'm watching too, and I love how CNN has that graph on the bottom. The independents are the ones to watch. Wonder how they do that though? Does the audience have buttons to push or something?
  14. Ahh....no rep. Now we're all back on equal footing again. Its nice.
  15. Well I'll tell you what Pam, opensecrets is not at all what I was expecting. I was under the impression it was more of a news wannabe type site. I mean, someone did lump it in with a blog to denigrate, so I just thought it was equally useless. Now I know. :001_smile:
  16. My dad recently addressed my 3 year old, and told him in a way that he could understand, that "you'll get farther in this world with your brains then you will your muscles." My son told him "I use my feet." :D
  17. I think the point was that blogs are not really credible sources of information...unless of course they provide links to credible sources. Blogs themselves are not. As for the name "Open Secrets", no credible news source is going to call itself that. It would be laughed out of the press conference. :)
  18. How come no one has given her the crib sheets yet?????
  19. CNN is still advertising the debate as being on the 26th. I don't know if other stations are. Just have CNN on, listening to Bill.
  20. I completely disagree with Bloomberg. I think he's wearing those rose colored glasses. We're not only having problems here in the US, but its spreading. Could you please provide proof in some form to back up your last statement? Something nonpartisan would be preferred. I'm not even really sure what you're trying to say there.
  21. Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and jump in here too. I agree that it is a politically motivated move by McCain, at least in some part. If Obama did call McCain to set this up as a joint effort, and then McCain went out unilaterally, then shame on him for playing SO dirty. I don't know yet, I have yet to check sources and links. The big question is...now what is McCain going to do? Everyone is looking at him now. The Republicans are pressuring him to vote in favor of the bail-out bill. But he's running on a largely "reform" platform, he's the "maverick." What is he going to do??? I can't wait to see.
