Thanks, WabiSabi, We tried MTH a while back and he enjoyed the audio books, but never seemed too keen on reading those. Those are worth trying again. Any other ideas out there?

My 6 yo ds is on book #18 of the original Boxcar Children books. He reads them so fast I can't keep up with interlibrary loan. Any suggestions for where to guide him next? I want to keep the content appropriate for his age. Thank you!

Prayers for God's healing, Jesus' promise, and the Holy Spirit's comfort for your entire family. -

You can download the set of McGuffeys Eclectic Readers for free here (near the bottom of the page): http://www.learn-to-read-prince-george.com/McGuffey-readers.html We have the boxed version which I love! I have been amazed at my son's improvement in decoding and the massive vocabulary he has been exposed to. I used American Language Series in Kindergarten and then we moved to the McGuffy Readers for first grade. We skipped the Primer, completed the first reader in the fall and we just finished the second reader. I was skeptical at first, but I have been pleasantly surprised. There are only two things that I don't like: 1. The books do not naturally stay open to the page-- I think the binding is too tight; thus, I have to help my 6 yo son hold it open while he is reading. 2. A few selections are in cursive. The cursive is an OLD typeset and lots of the letters are not like the letters we see today. We will either skip these or if it is a poem then I will type it out for him. Otherwise, I have really enjoyed using these. Download the free copies and try it and see what you think! Enjoy!!

We went to Mt. Vernon this past summer and LOVED it! Plan a full day there b/c there is a lot of walking! They have recently completed the new museum which we could have spent much longer in. Have a wonderful time!!!! -
Sometimes there are Convention-Only specials or some type of "free gift with purchase" in addition to the free shipping. I would just bring along your list with the online price to compare.

We've had good success with Singapore. We started with 1A. -
I like working out at night too, but that only seems to happen when I'm not completely exhausted at the end of the day. Would love to know how other moms are finding time.

Skinny boy pants? What brands?
enlarsh replied to PeterPan's topic in General Education Discussion Board
We had success with the Old Navy slim pants with the adjustable waist just last week. They were having a sale price of $14/pair if you buy two or more. We added a belt and they work just fine. -
Should I pull DD2 out of PS?
enlarsh replied to jhallworth's topic in General Education Discussion Board
If it were me, I'd go ahead and pull her out. Right now is the honeymoon period with the teacher, it's not likely to get better and your dd is so young that you want her to enjoy learning and not dreading school. I agree with the other posters about schedules--particularly naptime for the little ones. (I'm known as the Nap Nazi in my house ;).) I guess the other question is, why did you choose hs for your older son and were you considering hs for your ds in the future? -
Ugh...tough situation. I'm glad mine are little. Little people have little problems. Just my .02 I did the traditional college thing and then earned my masters while working full-time. Finishing school later is tough, especially on one's own and without the support (financial, emotional, etc) of parents may make it impossible. You asked about perception: I believe in finishing what you start. You may change course along the way, but you should finish. I don't believe that God blesses children with debt-free families and an ability for performance only to have them wander after a boy without any type of concrete plan of achieving a dream. You certainly want to preserve the relationship with her, so FWIW, I would help her come up with a realistic financial and educational plan for the next 6-12 months and give her some wings. If it doesn't work out, let her know that she can come home and finish what she started. But before she goes, she should make sure that she will be able to come back to school to finish her performance degree should things not work out.

I don't know what SPD is, but my husband spits and I can't stand it. Now my 5yo ds has started to do it. It infuriates me. Any suggestions on how to get them to stop? Especially the 5yo. I gave up on hubby long ago.
